Características do bom professor sob a ótica dos discentes de Ciências Contábeis da geração Y das IES de Pato Branco

Abstract

It’s noticeable the difference among the previous generations and the present concerning to the ones who join Higher Education Institutions (HEI). The previous generations had less technology access than Y Generation, which has been born in information era, this has brought alterations relating to behavior, preferences and perceptions. Thus, the present study aimed to highlight the characteristics of a good teacher according to vision of the Accountancy students, from Y generation, of HEI from Pato Branco. This search is a replication and the characteristics mentioned in the questionnaire were based on the original questionnaire, among them: to have knowledge, to be cult, to have class mastery, to have and adequate voice tone, among others. The data collection was performed by a questionnaire applied in person, as a result there were 329 answers, from them, 265 were valid and 64 were not. From the 64 questionnaires not valid, 11 were answered by people who did not belong to Y generation and 53 lacked one or more answers in more than one item. The results of the search indicate that, independent of an individual or group analysis the most relevant to the students are those concerning to 1 and 2 Groups, in other words, to show knowledge, class mastery, clear explanation, didactic and class preparation. The variable Technology was shown along with the characteristics of relationship among the teachers and the students and thirdly, adding 8,4 of relevance level to the HEI students. The personal attributes of teachers was the group that obtained smaller average and it can be considered with less relevance to characterize a good teacher according to college students who answered the questionnaires. When it was analyzed the average by education institutions (EI), the hierarchy of relevance related to the characteristics was kept the same, however with distinct averages from EI to EI. Thus, the results indicate that having knowledge of the subject, a good didactic and giving clear explanations are the most important characteristics for a teacher. Nevertheless, the Y Generation also expects having a good student-teacher relationship and teachers that are interested in using technology for their classes.
