Resumo: dc.description.abstractThis theoretical work and research deals with the theme inclusion policies and strategies of educational services for students with intellectual disabilities. Among the subjects studied, we dealt with the historical process of treatment and care offered to the disabled, the party of segregation and extermination, through integration, even today, with the inclusion paradigm. Throughout history, various laws were made and therefore, many changes occurred in the educational process, where people with disabilities had the right to be treated preferentially in mainstream schools. Furthermore, the disabled today are seen as citizens with skills and personalities, leaving it to schools carry out the necessary adjustments so that it advances in its development and in their learning. In this sense, we are faced with difficulties, since, for this to occur, and the real educational inclusion happen, it is necessary to have organized responses, not just the teachers who should be prepared, but the various authorities, both political as administrative, educational proposing that come from meeting the real needs of each. Thus, with careful analysis of the data, it is clear that inclusion is still a process that requires much study and dialogue, especially with disabled people themselves, who consider the special schools, depending on the degree of disability of the person, best place to receive his formal education. This study makes it clear that no matter the school, whether regular or special, the important thing is that the educational service is quality and meets the specifics of the disabled person.pt_BR
