Resumo: dc.description.abstractWith the increase of diseases caused by the sedentary life style, poor nutrition and bad health habit , it's even more necessary the incentive and increase of measures to counteract and fight the evils of health. Among these measures are the practice of regular physical exercise and feed control. As an exercise, it stands out in this work the street race in the city of Curitiba, a growing sport related to the number of supporters, sport advisors and competitions. The goal of this work is to analyze the nutritional knowledge of individuals practicing athletics as regular exercise, accurately the long distance running mode, in the city of Curitiba, comparing them with individuals who do not practice the race as regular physical activity. This work intends to demonstrate, besides the knowledge level of individuals, the importance of a proper nutrition. This is a cross-sectional study which will measure the knowledge of individuals by applying the scale of Nutritional Knowledge translated and adapted by Scagliusi et al. (2006), originally formulated by Harnack et al. (1997). It were interviewed 137 people, 60 of these regular running practitioners, and 77 non-practitioners. Both groups included female and male, age range 20-65 years, being considered the level of education and background or expert guidance on nutrition. The street runners invited to participate in the study were part of sports advisors affiliated to ATCC, Running Technical Association of Curitiba. Participants who did not practice street race were part of the group of servers of UTFPR, Federal Technological University of Paraná.The study results showed no statistically significant difference between nutritional knowledge of practitioners of street racing, as regular exercise, and individuals not engaged in street race (t = 0.628 to p = 0.05) since they reached very close to average scores on QCN (10.4 ± 2.1 and 10.2 ± 2.3 respectively).pt_BR
