Abstract

This works describes the implementation of a retrofitting in a mechanical press eccentric drive by engaging key, which consists of the technological upgrading of some existing components through the application of modern techniques and automation devices. The focus of this work was the reuse of eccentric mechanical presses with obsolete technology to adapt them in light of new safety standards in order to increase their lifespan. For this work, the mechanical coupling keyed system was replaced by a brake assembly / friction clutch to ensure the arrest of the movement at any position. In the development of automation used a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) model SIMATIC S7 - 200 manufactured by Siemens, whose programming was done in ladder language. Some electrical and pneumatic devices, which were installed in the press and perform their duties in accordance with the programming done in CLP were also added. The result of this modernization has enabled increased productivity, reduced downtime and operational risks, as well as by the economic point of view investment in reform was much less than the purchase of a mechanical press next generation.
