Descrição: dc.description | A computer-generated animation which attempts to model membrane trafficking, using data. The animation opens with a view of a migrating cell (much like sequence 9, the I'n vivo Deep Cells' video). As we zoom inside, we can see the large black nucleus, covered with nuclear pores, the green Golgi apparatus, and the orange endoplasmic reticulum. As we look at a region of endoplasmic reticulum, a protein-containing vesicle buds off, and travels on a microtubule using a motor protein. This leads to the Golgi, where the vesicle fuses with the cis face of the Golgi apparatus. The single vesicle moving through the stacks is meant to be representative of a population of membranous structures. As this vesicle leaves the trans face of the Golgi, it travels on a microtubule, and fuses with the plasma membrane far off in the distance | - |
