Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe teaching methods have developed to adapt the new realities of society and the student’s daily life, in the pursuit to improve the quality of education. The ineffective traditional techniques need to be replaced, as in the discipline of geography, where memorization techniques, nomenclatures, data fragmentation, etc. persists in the educational environment, making class lessons monotonous to students. For this, among the didactic resources propitious to educational development in geography, the editorial cartoons are an actual alternative, addressing recent and daily topics in a critical and humorous way. Thus, had as purpose to analyze the positive aspects in the use of editorial cartoons via bibliographic data gathering from work performed on the relevant topic. It was noticed that this resource is a favorable element for the exchange of knowledge and the interaction between students and teachers due to the interpretative aspect available in it, as it enables the connection of everyday knowledge with the scientific, favoring the construction of meaningful learning. However, the editorial cartoons are rarely used in the didactical environment, reflecting in the few scientific work found on this subject, and who mostly are recent. In this way, was also sought to point out which would be the negative aspects in the poorly planned use of editorial charges, and what other reasons can be found for this textual resource to be not often used in the classroom. The lack of time by part of the teachers, misinformation and/or fixation of traditional practices are some of the possible reasons found. However, it was noticed that the use of editorial cartoons has gained ground in the didactic environment, due to the higher advantages presented.pt_BR
