Resumo: dc.description.abstractThis work was the subject of research case study on intestinal parasites of the content covered in textbooks (from the same collection) elementary science education (6th, 7th and 8th grade) recommended by the NPDB / 2013. Intestinal intestinal parasites are quite common in developing or underdeveloped countries and tropical climate and require significant attention to public health. Intestinal parasitic infections are commonly transmitted by contaminated water and use by people and by the lack or irregularity in food sanitation. Basic education has as one of its functions the instruction and training of critical and reflective to knowingly deal in the biophysical world that surround the subject and guide decision making based on solid scientific knowledge. In the educational environment, are found numerous resources to support teaching praxis, one of the textbook. The textbook is characterized as a very important tool in the educational process, thus needs to be in favor of transformative education that aim. After analyzing the textbooks of elementary school 6th, 7th and 8th year from the same collection, we found that the same, when addressing the thematic intestinal parasites, presented the comparatively small amounts of theoretical content and activities and reduced visuals on the subject. There is no doubt that the topic, intestinal parasites, must be inserted in a comprehensive manner, in basic education, because it is part of health education, inherent in science education, as well as the cross-cutting themes of education (health).pt_BR
