Resumo: dc.description.abstractThis work was developed with the aim of identifying the main causes of dropout students in the form of Youth and Adults at the level of a high school center EJA theoretically about addressing the main challenges of the Brazilian education, and also developing a brief history of the education of youth and adults in Brazil, culminating in the approach to truancy in the EJA. The survey was conducted by compiling and questionnaires to teachers belonging to a center EJA located in the municipality from Paraná. The questionnaire addressed since the formation of the teacher until the main difficulties for teaching in adult education and what are the main causes of truancy in these services. Through the analysis of the data collected, it was found that 50% of respondents are young people who are aged 20-29 years and 38% of these, taught at least 1 year in adult education and other relevant data is that 59% has no course in the field of adult education, which can compromise the pedagogical practice developed by this same type of education as well, according to 50% of the teachers interviewed, the main reason for discontinuation of studies is the difficulty that students have time to reconcile study and work. Given all of the above it is clear that truancy in the EJA is motivated by several factors, such as difficulties in initiating the study time and labor, physical fatigue and also the lack of interest among students in the studies, however, is undeniable that quitting school is detrimental to the future of the same, because the conclusion of the studies is basic to enter the job market requirement.pt_BR
