Resumo: dc.description.abstractGiven the motivation and aversion of many students from the sixth to the ninth year of elementary school for the discipline of mathematics, in which the difficulties of understanding the content provided in notes reflect below average, this study aims to identify the main difficulties in process of teaching and learning, as well as present some techniques to assist in the teaching of mathematics, since the highest learning disabilities are not in the new content, but in basic mathematics, especially in multiplication and division. However, one must consider that many of these difficulties are not confined only to the school environment, since the very formation of the teacher often does not prepare you to face these problems. To base our research, we work with mathematics teachers of elementary school from a school in Foz do Iguassu, and found that there are simply not professional teachers, who go to the classroom only to fulfill a teaching plan, but educators concerned with the integral formation of the student. So there was a qualitative study with these teachers that addressed some questions about the learning of mathematics in elementary school, some methods and techniques, activities, games and remarkably effective in setting contents, which were developed with the students of this college are presented during the preparation of this work.pt_BR
