Resumo: dc.description.abstractThis work has as its theme the causes and consequences of school dropout of school youth and adults “AYE “in high school. In the first part of the paper discusses the development of technical education in Brazil, supported by the government , had proposed to link the vocational secondary to train skilled manpower that meets the capitalist production model of teaching and learning the ways of streamlining the engendered work with this system (Fordism, Taylorism and Toyotism ). With this educational reforms for high school reinforce the duality of the educational system in this stage of education, among those who do to continue the study and those who do training for hand labor. The research showed that educational reforms are permeated by the changing world of work and the constraints of the production system on them is also within this context. Finally the research highlights some factors that are considered relevant to truancy, among them we highlight the social and structural problems of the educational system and the material conditions of existence that motivate thousands of young people to leave school and go back up to work, apart from the difficulty of reconciling the most triple workday ended through access to education.pt_BR
