Resumo: dc.description.abstractThis work had as its theme the reading and interpretation of mathematics. Mathematics is considered an important discipline of the school curriculum because this has a number of languages used in daily life, and often involves reading for the interpretation of the numerical formulations that contributes to the development of logical reasoning. This largely represented by the mathematical understanding of the text and logical thinking are dependent on each other and interact to form these features that enable from a logical problem, solve it step by step, using reading techniques for learning. Therefore, this reasoning of the development of mathematics, as well as being used to solve issues and problems in other areas of knowledge and daily life, it is also critical to the mental development of the individual. Thus, this study aims to analyze the real necessity of reading and interpretation of the utterance situations to resolve problems. As methodologies used in this research was initially classified as literature, which highlighted the main points to be worked on and reading method understanding of math text. Then a field research with method of field research with the questionnaire given to students in the 7th Year of State College Quintino Bocaiúva Ubiratã of Parana, was taken, trying to analyze their needs in relation to learning math as well as their difficulties in interpreting reading. The results obtained in this research is turning to the teaching practices and encouraging reading in the classroom, serving as a reference for mathematical calculations and interpret and distinguish the figures shown through writing and reflection with reading.pt_BR
