Resumo: dc.description.abstractThis study aims to analyze the Science teaching practices in elementary education from 5th grade to 8th grade in eight (8) public schools and two (2) private ones in the city of Foz do Iguaçu. Teachers answered questionnaires that checked various items to make a mapping of their science classes development, how scientific communication in the classroom is being held, whether or not computer and science labs are being used, as well as whether teachers' training is being continuous. This survey has shown that schools are well equipped, but these resources are not being thoroughly used. It has also shown that teachers have done a good job regarding Science, Technology, Society and Environment with the development of current and relevant topics. Teachers surveyed some develop Reading competence and writer this task through the teaching of science. The research suggests that many of the problems faced by teachers result from their high workload, but regardles the reasons it is necessary to readjust, for the teaching of science is vital to the development of a nation.pt_BR
