Resumo: dc.description.abstractDue to the rapid growth of the construction industry in recent years due to the economic growth of Brazil, the sector is facing difficulties in meeting the demand of the market, among which we can cite the shortage of skilled labor, inputs and equipment. Hoping to meet the increasingly demanding market, many companies operating in the construction of buildings, seek alternative strategies to become more competitive, from project conception to completion, and the project is one of the main stages in which are defined materials and construction processes. In this context of rationalization, one of constructive processes in use is the increasing structural masonry, which recently had its standardization project regulated by ABNT - Brazilian Association of Technical Standards, the NBR 15812 (2010) Part 1 and NBR 15961 (2011) Part 1 , which regulate, respectively, methods of design calculations for structural masonry using ceramic blocks and concrete blocks. However many engineering professionals are still unaware of the processes of structural calculations for the design of structural masonry buildings for both ceramic blocks and for concrete blocks. As a contribution, this study - presents a comparison of the structural calculations of a kind floor of a commercial building with 8 floors, using the guidelines for calculating project NBR 15812-1 Structural masonry - Blocks ceramic and NBR 15961-1 Masonry structural - concrete blocks.pt_BR
