Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe present work is based on a research carried out through a comparative study.Data were gathered regarding pedagogical practices used by Chemistry teachers in professional education, identifying the correlation between students’ existing knowledge and chemistry subjects, demonstrating the importance of contextualizing technological and practical matters to technical students. A qualitative research was conducted at a public school, located in the city of Paranavaí, where semi-structured interviews were held with four chemistry teachers working in professional education. This study outpoints the significance of analyzing the methodological procedures by adopting practical lessons, textbooks, didactic and technical resources, evaluation means, pointing strengths and weaknesses in Chemistry teaching in professional education. In this manner, teachers’ discourses and actions concerning their pedagogical practices are presented. All of them assume to follow progressive education methods, having the need to innovate and diversify their lessons, combining differentiated instructional content and educational guidelines and obtaining better results throughout the educational process. I was clearly manifested in this research that good lessons require study, proper preparation and curiosity as to the teaching-learning process.pt_BR
