Resumo: dc.description.abstractReports the results of a research that has as main objective to evaluate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) within five eating establishments in Curitiba / PR, before the demands of Regulatory Standards (RLs) of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It should be noted in recent years, an accelerated expansion of the eating sector and an increasing demand for eating outside home and therefore finds the formation of a class of increasingly less informed and less professionalized workers and, the increase in the number of informal establishments with a low degree of specialization, unconcerned with the information and compliance with laws and regulations. In this setting becomes essential to invest in prevention and extinction risk in the workplace. Therefore, the study meets theoretical frameworks that seek to highlight the importance of Work Safety and the use of PPE. To meet our objective a checklist that presents a possible relationship between the occupations, the risks and the uses of PPE, PPE with CA (Certificate of Approval) and EPC (Collective security) has been developed to mitigate or avoid risks on each of the establishments surveyed. In order to apply the checklist it was done some visits to the establishments, verifying directly into the workstation through observation and questioning the existence and use of PPE and EPC. From the results presented, it was concluded that the five companies all showed non- compliance as the RLs for the use of PPE. The establishments A, B and C received a bad rating; establishment D rated as regular; and the establishment E was rated as excellent, according to criteria adopted. So it is evident the need for expert guidance, showing the path of adjustment to the legislation.pt_BR
