Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe growing energetic demand and the high complexity of eletric power systems nowadays, added to the consumers high level of requirements, demands s higher quality power supply service. As parameters of quality, lies its continuity (service quality) and adequate voltage profile (product quality), even after disturbances. This way, it becomes essential to the operator to know the system'sactual state and, furthermore, to dispose of tools to foresee situations that would compromise the system’s regular work. Among these situations, figures the phenomenon of voltage instability (or voltage coalapse). The aim of the present paper is to study the main concepts of power systems stability, focusing on voltage stability. Within this theme, continuous power flow taking the load as a parameter for continuity. Systems of a maximum of 5 bars are analyzed with the aid of a computational tool that applies the continuous power flow and plots the so called PV and PQ curves. With these curves, it is possible to estimate the collapse point of the system, which represents the maximum load that the it is able to take without suffering from voltage instability. Corrective measures are also simulated, such as capacitors bank introduction and the addition of extra transmission lines on the system, aiming to verify what is the contribution of this procedures on the control of the load margin.pt_BR
