Resumo: dc.description.abstractToday's society has an increasing need for security systems in order to protect their private property. One of these systems relates to vehicle tracking. Due to the costs of maintaining a tracking system (typically managed by security companies to whom you need to pay monthly fees for their services), many have no interest in tracking devices because of their high cost. The objective of this work is to develop and build a prototype tracking device that interacts with a smartphone, informing the vehicle's location via GPS and GSM / GPRS devices (Security company intervention is not necessary). The user will have a tracking system that will indicate the location of the vehicle on their cellphones, when they require this information. The embedded software is implemented in C language and Java monitoring, as the operating system is developed for the prototype Android. The validation of this work was be conducted through field trials. Security breaches were tested to verify if the system worked when the vehicle was taken out of a predetermined area.pt_BR
