Resumo: dc.description.abstractAs the civil construction sector increases, raw material exploration raises as well as environmental impacts caused to the natural resources. Beyond that, the big issue with this sector is related to material waste, incorrect waste segregation at the construction site, and the lack of reusing and recycling, which makes the amount of waste higher and hence brings landscape changes, reduces landfills life time and causes vectors proliferation. Therefore, the confection of a Building Waste Management Plan is necessary. The main objective of this work was to suggest actions in order to improve the management of waste building by monitoring the Building Waste Management Plan in two buildings, a commercial and a residential. Both buildings had already started their constructions when the monitoring began, the commercial had 9 out of 20 floors built and the residential was at the foundation. The monitoring process consisted in weekly visits, during eleven months in commercial and eight in residential, at the buildings in order to verify non conformities and then, the decision makers were notified in an Action Plan. This plan contained the description of the problems and the respective suggested actions to solve them. There were many types of non conformities, such as diffused wastes, pack of cigarettes on the floor and mainly mixed wastes. Consequently, there also were many actions to solve the problems, for instance, training employees and building trash cans. The mixed waste was one of the most difficult problems to be solve, even after trainings, the situation used to occur again. The commercial building had higher efficiency when compared to the residential, but there were proactive actions at the latter, what made its management better than the one at the former. It was possible to notice that the implementation and monitoring of a Building Waste Management Plan are extremely important to minimize environmental impacts.pt_BR
