Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe incidence of processes such as pollution, deforestation, construction of dams and overfishing has caused a constant imbalance in the ecology of water resources, causing damage to both the environment itself, considering, for example, fauna and flora, as for all population that depends on it. Within this context, the recovery and preservation of regional water resources require the development of a long and continuous process of Environmental Education in schools and local communities. Thus, the objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge regarding the importance of water and conserving local water resources, of high school students of a public school located in the city of Jacarezinho, Paraná. For this purpose we used a questionnaire, and data analysis was conducted by surveying, interpretation and codification of the questionnaire responses, in order to contribute to some generalizations about the case, using descriptive statistics. Through this was possible to understand that the students have yes, some basic concepts about the importance of water for life on the planet, but know little about the water resources of their city, Jacarezinho, state of Paraná. Some know that a river or stream located in the city, mentioned Jacarezinho river or Malaria stream, but there are various other streams in the city and urban watercourses, such as Água Feia and Chumbeiro stream, the latter including, with a portion of its length located in a conservation area called "Wildlife Refuge Jacarezinho" old "Garden", within the city. Thus, the results of this thesis can serve as encouragement for the planning and logistics of Environmental Education projects for the conservation of water resources in Jacarezinho, one of them even within the conservation area above, since most of the residents do not give importance deserving the creek situated therein.pt_BR
