Resumo: dc.description.abstractWith the large population growth and technological advances, the construction industry has looking for more efficient building systems in order to increase productivity, reduce wastes and attend a growing demand. One alternative is the use of a construction system already well consolidated in developed countries: the Light Steel Framing (LSF). In this sense, this work proposes to realize the project of a residence in Light Steel Framing system and determine the viability of the system in the region of Campo Mourão city, performing a comparative cost analysis between the Light Steel Framing system and the conventional construction system. After a brief explanation of each construction method and the development of the projects, the comparison was done taking in account technical and economic aspects of both systems in order to evaluate the viability of the LSF system. It was concluded that the total cost for the building using LSF was higher than the cost for conventional system. The manpower and the construction method were the determinant factors for the higher cost. However, with the increase of industrialization for the construction processes and workforce training, the LSF system may become more competitive and common in the region considered.pt_BR
