Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe wood products are gaining market share in the construction industry mainly due to the possibility of use wood from planted forests, even as reduction of defects and virtues of an industrial product. I-Joists is an example of manufactured product and wood-based which has high stiffness, capacity to win large spans, lightness, affordability, easy manufacturing and offers economy of materials if compared to rectangular beams. The central idea of the work is to use a material rejected by a wood jamb distributor to produce a structural element with modernity and reliability if compared with the traditional. I-Joist is an element which in this study had the flanges made from discarded wood and web made of OSB (Oriented Strange Board). Phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde was the resin used for the joint between the elements. This study characterizes the physical and mechanical properties of reuse material, and also structural analyses using theoretical and experimental criteria off effective stiffness and rupture of I-Joists. The theoretical results were compared with experimental to approve the viability of using recycled wood as flange on I-Joist. The laboratory tests results indicated the structural efficiency of I-Joists, there was no detachment of flange to web joint. The failure modes correlated with those presented in the literature, however, the load capacity and stiffness mostly had low correlation between experimental and estimated, therefore requiring the study of more accurate theoretical models.pt_BR
