Resumo: dc.description.abstractThere are polluting the environment both organic and inorganic, second, usually toxic, does not have the capability of being biodegradable in need of such treatment. The fitotratramento is feasible for the treatment of chromium III being a low-cost treatment and exhibit high efficiency. This work verified the efficiency of absorption of chromium III by Eleocharis mutata, seeking fitotratamento wastewater. Was first mounted an experiment whose goal was to check the resistance of the plant to different concentrations of chromium III, 15 mg / L, 40 mg / L and 70 mg / L. The plant held up well to the damage caused by chromium in the holding period tested. It mounted a second experiment whose aim was to evaluate the absorption capacity of the chromium III Eleocharis mutata and efficiency in the wastewater treatment solution (70 mg / L of chromium III). The results showed that the plant has absorbed 1014.95 mg / kg on a dry weight, 0.1045% by weight, being a hyperaccumulator 4 plant. The reduction of chromium III effluent was 37.05%, showing the low efficiency in treatment that may be due to the high concentration of chromium III to be treated and the short detention time used for the treatment (7 days), since one of the problems of the hyperaccumulator plants is slow absorption of metals. With all conclude that the plant exhibits good absorption capacity is feasible to use fitotratamento, despite the lower efficiency in removing the chromium in the solution III, showing that in a larger treatment time this efficiency would be high.pt_BR
