Resumo: dc.description.abstractDue to advantages associated with their implementation, the use of natural polymers as aids coagulation and flocculation, is being studied and it is a promising alternative. In this study, we evaluated the use of natural polymers in the treatment of drinking water, extracted from the ripe fruits of Abelmuoschus eschulentus (L.) Moench (okra), as flocculation aid, and seeds of Moringa oleifera Lam (Moringa) as coagulation aid, also evaluating the combined use of okra and moringa. With the use of okra, were obtained good results removal with color and turbidity, reaching 96.6% and 98.9% removal, respectively, using the concentration of 1.4 ppm. With the use of Moringa, were also obtained good results of removing color and turbidity parameters, reaching 83.3% and 97.6% removal, respectively, using a concentration of 360 ppm. In trials in which the use of okra and moringa in set was evaluated, with concentrations of 1.4 ppm of okra and 250 ppm of moringa, there was obtained 80% and 81.2% of removing color and turbidity, respectively. In three studies, other parameters such as solids and microbiological also been significantly reduced, presenting itself as a positive aspect to possibly facilitate the next steps of treatment, extending the life of the filters and requiring fewer disinfectant. In addition, we used lower concentrations of coagulant chemicals than those used in the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). This makes it possible to propose a reduction in the use of metal coagulants, bringing benefits to people who consume smaller amounts of chemicals, allow greater ease of disposal of sludge from the ETA and reinforce the proposal of Green Chemistry.pt_BR
