Abstract

The adoption of an environmental management system for organizations based on ISO 14001 tends to be a decision which takes into account many variables operating financial and cultural, because the deployment process typically requires many changes within companies. For that managers have information for decision making an environmental diagnosis is crucial. The present work was carried out environmental assessment of the company with the help of a calculation tool that uses a multi-criteria analysis. Where there is to the compatibility of organizational profile and ISO 14001 and possible certification attesting the conformity of an EMS and its requirements in a hospital medical equipment industry. Through this analysis showed a large gap regarding environmental compliance with standard requirements which may result in problems with environmental agencies and loss of market. Requiring the review of processes and services so there is reduced waste of raw material and natural resources especially throughout the equipment production process. The calculation analysis helped in the process of diagnosis presented a rate of α = 5.5 is recommended when the implementation of ISO 14001 and the associated certification by strong possibility of success and / or relative adoptability opposite situation cultural, environmental, managerial and / or financial enterprise. After this survey of the operational status of the environmental management of the company by using two methodologies became more complete was the suggestion of possible improvements and assistance to the decision maker agent of the organization to adopt or not the implementation of the environmental management system.
