Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe main goal of this study is to identify how or whether the workplace safety is embedded at the organizational culture of a construction company. The research had a qualitative approach with an exploratory descriptive case study, which was conducted in an Engineering and Construction Company with headquarters in Curitiba, Paraná State, Brazil. The Information was collected by semi-structured interviews, in which it was used a form containing pre-defined questions applied on workers in both operating and administrative sectors of the jobs. In this questionnaire, the main components of a safety culture were analyzed: information, organizational learning, involvement, communication and commitment. In the final results, it was found that there were discrepancies among the answers given by the participants. Also, the workplace safety issues were only relayed in cases of serious accidents, although there were several means available to do. Furthermore, there is still a need of more knowledge sharing among all workers, being part of the organizational learning. As for the involvement of the employees, there are people interested on participating of workplace security debates, fact that still is needed to be absorbed and well thought of inside the company. In addition, there is available an open communication channel in which there is guidance on the standards of workplace safety as much as the use of safety equipments, which could be better explored. Also, the commitment to the values of workplace safety still needs to be established and consolidated inside the company, although there are new investments in safety equipments. Finally, it is concluded that there is a need of improvement of the workplace safety culture inside the company and a need of establishment its concepts as values inside its organizational culture.pt_BR
