Resumo: dc.description.abstractBy observing the manufacturing process of aluminum pans using lathe machine tool, it was possible to point out some critical points in your operation. Since the process of making pots depends exclusively on human labor as a tool for operating the lathe, it was possible to detect a progressive worker's physical wear over time. As a result, there can be a lack of pattern in the manufacturing processes involved as the final products, which result in flaws in the pieces, causing rework, scrap production and directly affecting the product quality. This research project has as main objective to analyze the feasibility of replacing the manual method of cooking pans through the retrofit of the current system, which will be made in a factory aluminum pots and artifacts in the region of Curitiba. Accordingly, this study analyzes through automation, sensing and control an effective solution to exert control system using servo drive, programmable logic controller and human-machine interface. To achieve the objectives of this technology research, this project is structured in the methodology of control systems described by Miyagi (2001) in order to achieve an efficient procedure for systematizing the automating of the lathe. For determination of the production system, the content of this paper also presents a detailing of the workplace, the manufacturing process of the pots studied. This project is based on an examination of the operation of the programmable logic controller and servo drive to work in the system, with details of the control functions of these devices, beyond the determination and location of the input and output signals. It also details the development of control software for operating the system through the programming of PLC, HMI and servo drive. The programming of devices is validated through testing unit and the whole system with a demonstration of the simulated results. Finally, this work also demonstrates an analysis of technical and economic feasibility to implement the automation of the production system through investments of equipment that would be used in the construction of the automated system.pt_BR
