Resumo: dc.description.abstractWe currently live in a development model where secondary issue is the concern for the preservation of natural resources and the absorptive capacity of the nature of the impact produced by human activities. It is necessary to change the way people relate to the environment, it is clear the need to rethink the forms of consumption since the planet gives obvious signs of tiredness and exhaustion from some sources. This study aimed to address environmental concepts through the development of a thematic project to high school students, involving and relating to chemistry. We tried to work with the interdisciplinary, since it involves content everyday school life. It was developed with students of the second year of the Association of Rural Family House Pato Branco where most students are children of farmers living in the countryside. We developed a thematic project entitled "Environmental education: the attitudes of small challenges" that addressed issues related to environmental education as a way to encourage students to better understand the risks involved in environmental assaults. There were meetings with students where they discussed issues related to the classification of waste, the difference between garbage and waste, and the overall classification as the origin of the waste. It also addressed the forms of treatment, disposal and management of solid waste, including these categories recycling, composting, incineration and landfill, as well as some curiosities that warn of the importance of separating waste and recycle correctly. The students developed a survey to find out which school produces waste in greater quantity, in order to propose a way to reuse this waste for it to be developed at the school. Worked with the reuse of the second most produced waste - paper, the school already has way to reuse the waste produced in greater quantity. Then developed a practice of recycling paper, where students made their own sheets. Methodologies were used to group dynamics and practical activities. To assess student learning, we applied a questionnaire before and after the development of the project. In this review we can see how great the influence country culture in students, the answers were always related issues experienced by them in the school community and at home, both the problems highlighted as the way to avoid them in order to protect environment. Thematic projects must be used by teachers to boost classes making them less monotonous, assist in the development of competencies and skills by students, causing them to become able to tackle existing problems in your reality.pt_BR
