Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe great generation of effluents with high levels of metals such as chromium (VI), coming from industrial processes such as textile, oil refineries and galvanizing, has generated much worry due to its large capacity polluting. The traditional treatments used to remove metals, especially at low concentrations (below 100 mgL-1), were inefficient, since they cannot guarantee that the concentration of metals is within the limits required by regulatory standards. For these reasons it has sought new treatment alternatives, which are efficient and cheaper than the processes already in use. A good deal of treatment for these residue would be the biosorption process, which is to adsorb heavy metals found in effluent using biological materials. This work proposes the use of peels jabuticaba as biosorbent solutions of chromium (VI). The shells jabuticaba proved an efficient biomass in biosorption of chromium and cheap, it does not require previous treatments a and especially can be reused for other industrial processes such as the manufacture of juices and jellies.pt_BR
