Resumo: dc.description.abstractCurrently with difficulties that the world is, it is important that the student create position on the events and they can judge and make their own decisions. In front of this problematic, the teacher should try to create means and tactics preparing students not only to test with decorated formula, but a thinking person able to act in the society that lives and be able to improve it. Being the chemistry a science of experimental methods which proves in practice what the student see in theory, it is necessary that at some point in their academic life the student has more contact with the lab. Thinking this it was proposed this work, seeking to develop a low cost apparatus for extracting essential oils, using available and inexpensive materials, and then mount a trial lesson extracting oils from plants commonly known by the students. During the class development it were used teaching recourses as multimedia, setting molecules using a molecular kit of chemistry structures, smell sensory analysis of certain oils and use of parts of a movie. The class proceeded in a pleasant way, the use of these teaching recourses assisted on the teaching process, attracting the students and contextualizing the subject discussed, beyond might assist in the social formation, developing an active citizen in the society. The motivation and the student interest is the result of the teacher stimulation and it is closely associated with the used didactic and pedagogic resources.pt_BR
