Descrição: dc.descriptionThe job sequencing and tool switching problem (SSP) is an important issue in flexible manufacturing systems, which are commonly used in high-mix, low-volume industries. Flexible computer numerical control machines can be equipped with various tools to produce a diverse range of products, each requiring a specific set of tools. The SSP seeks to establish a job sequencing and tool switching plan to optimize production. The objective function and additional constraints define the SSP and its variations, which have garnered increasing attention from the academic community. Many algorithms have been proposed to solve these problems, and they typically share similar evaluation functions. This study revisits existing methods and implementations for determining tool switching plans and compares them with two new exact and approximate parallel implementations. The results indicate that the new implementations achieve a significant reduction in runtime up to—96.57%. This improvement can greatly enhance the algorithms used to solve the SSP and related problems in the industry.-
