Descrição: dc.descriptionSteel refning in a continuous casting tundish using flow modifiers is a common practice in the steel industry given its positive efect on the removal of inclu sions from the steel bath. In this work, the efect of replacing the turbulence inhibitor with dams and the efect of the teeming ladle and ladle shroud set misalignment on inclu sion removal have been evaluated through physical model simulation. The efect on the residence time distribution and the refractory wear have also been investigated. It has been shown that for larger particles, the inclusion removal ef ciency with turbulence inhibitor was not very diferent as compared with the dams. However, in the case of smaller particles, the inclusion removal efciency was 7.15% greater than the case of dams in comparison with the inhibitor. The inlet asymmetry led to a drop in the removal efciency of smaller inclusion particles. For increased inlet asymmetry, greater refractory wear of the weirs should be expected for confgurations without turbulence inhibitors.-
