Descrição: dc.descriptionThe general objective of the article is to contribute to the debate on Social Security reform, identifying the main justifications that supported the pension reform project presented by the government of Jair Bolsonaro in 2019. The specific objective. The overall objective is to identify whether solidarity exists and, if so, what kind is offered by the government's proposal. Our methodology was based on the collection and analysis of speeches given by the main agent of the process, Paulo Guedes, as well as complementary data with Jair Bolsonaro and Rogério Mari-nho. It has as theoretical inspiration the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu and insights from economic sociology. The results point out that all the justifications triggered by the state agents involved in the 2019 pension reform aimed to approve the transition from a repartition-based pension model to a capitalization model and that the capitalization of social security was not presented as com-plementary, as in previous governments, but as a mandatory model. If approved, Brazil's social security would come to exist in a hybrid model, namely, the maintenance of the pay-as-you-go model for public servants and private sector workers already in the system and the capitalization model for young entrants to the labor market.-
