Resumo: dc.description.abstractIn the academic scenario, symposiums represent fundamental events in the dissemination of knowledge, formation of networks through the exchange of experiences between professionals and students, scientific updates, as well as the stimulation of research. The promotion of these events on online platforms took on a prominent role during and after the pandemic, playing a crucial role in continuing various activities and meetings in a more practical and accessible way. In this context, the Brazilian Veterinary Surgery Study Group (GECIVET - Brazil) annually promotes symposiums dedicated to the field of study, covering subareas with the aim of expanding topics of interest to the academic and professional community, also aiming to offer opportunity to submit academic work. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of the Second National Symposium on Veterinary Surgery of GECIVET Brazil in promoting research in veterinary medicine. Interviews were carried out regarding the perception and experiences of the participants through a questionnaire carried out using the Google Forms tool, sent by email and an integrated analysis was carried out in a quantitative and qualitative way of the academic works submitted, evaluated by the scientific committee. The Symposium received 207 registrations, with the majority of those registered being veterinary medicine graduates. In addition, 43 academic works were submitted, of which 32 were approved by the scientific committee and 12 were invited to present their work at the Symposium. The analysis of the data collected highlights the relevance of the symposium for the enrichment of knowledge and scientific updating and the results of the committee's evaluations showed a significant amount of research submitted with a good contribution to veterinary medicine. The Second National Symposium on Veterinary Surgery at GECIVET had a positive impact on promoting research in veterinary medicine, according to the results obtained in this research. The event proved to be a valuable platform for the dissemination of scientific knowledge, providing relevant updates and exchanging experiences in the field.pt_BR
