Resumo: dc.description.abstractWater is fundamental in the production of swine and poultry and must be supplied in sufficient quality, in sufficient quantity an adjusted pH to maintain physiological functions. The objective was to evaluate the physical-chemical and microbiological quality and consumption of a commercial acidifier and three chlorine biocidal agents in water from rural properties located in Vale do Taquari, RS, Brazil, by means of pH, free residual chlorine, redox potential (ORP), total alkalinity, total hardness, apparent color, turbidity, total dissolved solids, nitrates and nitrites, total coliform count, Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp.. Changes in nitrate concentrations, presence of microbial contamination, very strong correlation between alkalinity and acidifier consumption and low consumption of calcium hypochlorite. It was concluded that there are no relevant physical-chemical changes, highlighting the presence of bacterial contamination, reinforcing the need for water treatment.pt_BR
