Resumo: dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Global epidemiological transitions resulted in medical and social advances that led to gradual control of infectious diseases. The process of this transition consolidated chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as the main causes of global mortality, and, among NCDs, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) became the main causes of death in the world. Objectives: To evaluate the epidemiological profile of mortality from cardiovascular diseases, from 2015 to 2020, in Sobral – CE. Methodology: This is an epidemiological and quantitative study, in which a survey of data on CVD mortality was carried out in the city of Sobral, CE, with the data collection period from: January 2015 to December 2020. The data were obtained through access to the Brazilian Civil Registry Office Information System. The following variables were studied: gender, age group, education and race. Results and Discussion: There were 3184 deaths from CVD, 1705 of which were male and 1479 female. The most affected age group was “over 80 years” with 928 deaths, corresponding to 29.15% of the mortality rate. Followed by the age group “70 to 79 years”, with a total of 862 deaths, which corresponds to 27.07%. There were also 1,273 deaths in people with no education, which corresponds to 40% of the mortality rate. In people with 1 to 3 years of schooling, there were 829 deaths (26%). According to race, there is a greater predominance of deaths among brown people, with a total of 2602 deaths, which represents 81.72% of the mortality rate. Conclusion: It can be concluded that men, over 80 years old, with low education and of mixed race, represent the profile with the highest number of deaths from cardiovascular disease in the city of Sobral - CE.pt_BR
