Resumo: dc.description.abstract | Patients with COVID-19 who develop Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (ARDS) can progress to a serious condition requiring intensive therapy, being subjected to interventions that can cause a lot of pain, anxiety, delirium and discomfort, such as orotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation. The work aims to collect data about knowledge about sedoanalgesia in medical students, since acting as professionals directly impacts the health system, the quality of care and people's lives. Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study with practical application in the field of qualitative and quantitative type, with data obtained through the application of questionnaires to analyze relevant variables. The level of knowledge of students from the seventh to the twelfth period at the institution was evaluated. 51.8% of students have never had contact with the topic in their theoretical routine and 58.6% have had no contact in practical scenarios or extracurricular internships, 55.18% have no knowledge to indicate the use of medications, dosages, function, technique administration and criteria for recommending ventilatory support. It is possible to conclude that medical students have little knowledge about sedoanalgesia, which is an obstacle to the effectiveness of the health system. | pt_BR |
