Resumo: dc.description.abstractOsteology is a branch of anatomy that deals with the structure and function of bones. Bones are composed of highly vascular mineralized connective tissue, which is spread widely throughout the animal's body and exhibits considerable rigidity. The skeleton of the dog's pelvic limb is formed by the bones that form the hip, ilium, ischium and pubis; by the bones of the thigh, femur and patella; bones of the leg, tibia and fibula and the bones of the foot, seven of which make up the tarsus, five metatarsals, the proximal, middle and distal phalanges and the sesamoid bones. Aiming to obtain greater knowledge of the bone anatomy of the dog in order to apply it both in the teaching of veterinary medicine and in clinical and surgery, this work brings a literature review of the bone description of the pelvic limb of the dog.pt_BR
