Resumo: dc.description.abstractBreastfeeding is considered the best source of nutrition for newborns and infants due to the numerous benefits it provides for their growth and development. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months of age and supplemented breastfeeding up to 2 years of age. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the prevalence of breastfeeding in children up to 2 years of age in a Basic Health Unit (UBS) in the city of Ribeirão Preto - SP. A questionnaire was applied to the caregiver of each child and the data were analyzed using tables. Our findings highlight the importance of promoting and supporting breastfeeding among caregivers, emphasizing the benefits of continued breastfeeding for the child's health and development. Basic Health Units play a crucial role in promoting and supporting breastfeeding practices and efforts must be made to improve the rate of supplemented breastfeeding up to 2 years of age.pt_BR
