Resumo: dc.description.abstractThe study aimed to assess the gross motor function of children with Down syndrome (DS) and its relationship with factors capable of influencing its development. A cross-sectional clinical study with an assessment of gross motor function (GMFM-88) was conducted at the Genetic Pediatrics service in Botucatu/SP, 2018 to 2020. Were included 44 children with DS aged five months and incomplete ten years old. The results shows that the child's age at suspicion or in the diagnosis of DS, age at start of motor stimulation, and the age at the beginning of the diagnosis of hypothyroidism were significantly associated in the GMFM-8 (P<0.05), positively correlated with better score of motor function, as well as the number of weekly stimulation consultations in the first year of life. In conclusion, it is essential to start motor stimulation as early as possible, as well as the timely treatment of hypothyroidism, so prevalent in these children.pt_BR
