Resumo: dc.description.abstractAssessment is a mechanism of school culture that influences the marginalization of some social groups depending on the pedagogical concept applied to this tool in everyday school life. The present research was developed through a qualitative approach through bibliographical analysis seeking to understand the weight of the evaluation for the "success" or "failure" as well as the influence of the subjectivity of the teacher's look within the evaluation process, understanding that this tool exerts symbolic power within the school. The cycle is approached as an alternative to the serial system that predominates in school institutions, which enhances failure, exclusion and, consequently, failure.pt_BR
