Resumo: dc.description.abstractThis paper intends to analyze the use of language in social relations of power & ideology and unveil what types of ideals emerge in on-line articles about higher education in Brazil and the United Kingdom. Focusing on the portrayal of news about the 2012 and 2013 strike of professors of Higher Education in Brazil and the UK, respectively. The main theoretical basis in this study, Critical Discourse Analysis, provides ways to comprehend different discourses and perceive them inside the chosen on-line newspaper articles about higher education, not as a method but more as perspective or position. Hence, to promote a social change through empowering people by a critical analysis of language is the beginning of the real social inclusion and this work can contribute as a new perception of society and its language.pt_BR
